Obituary Condolences

Richard Dale Boerckel, 75, DeLand, Fla., passed away April 26, 2014, at Florida Hospital DeLand. He was born in Peoria, Ill., on Aug. 9, 1938, to Harry and Erma Boerckel. Most of Richard's adult life was spent in the Kansas City and Overland Park, Kan., area before moving to Florida 10 years ago. Richard served in the U.S. Army and attended Overland Park Christian Church (DOC). He was a certified auto mechanic who owned and operated Maple Hill Auto Service for over 20 years. Richard enjoyed stock car races and loved anything to do with automobiles. He and his wife traveled throughout the nation attending many car races but especially enjoyed nights spent at Lakeside Speedway and I-70 Speedway, surrounded by friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and large group of friends. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Deanna Lee Boerckel; son, Alan James Boerckel and wife Leisa; mother-in-law, Dora Mae Corrick; grandchildren, Caleb Elliott Boerckel and wife Kasey; Emily Jane Boerckel, Abigail Lyn Boerckel and Hannah Mae Boerckel and great- grandchildren, Garrett, Bo, Jack and Jenni. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Graveside service will immediately follow with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.
