JOHN THOMAS COLE Obituary
John Thomas Cole, 89, passed away May 3, 2014 after battling Alzheimer's disease since 2001. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon followed by a celebration of John's life at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Private burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. John was born August 2, 1924 in Aberdeen, MS to Gaston and Rose Lu (Cribbs) Cole. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Merchant Marines. John had a long and varied work life and he was most proud of being the manager of the 611 Club at the Kansas City Club for 27 years. John was a much sought after and beloved private server of hundreds of private parties throughout the Kansas City area. He gave impeccable service and was said to never forget a drink preference. His wife of fifty-four years preceded him in death in 1999. He is survived by his daughters, Lynn Ferguson and husband, David, Yoni Stevenson and son, Vinson Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Gay Vee Hinton of Temecula, CA. He had four grandchildren, Erika Jones, Rian Stevenson, Tanya Thoene and David John Ferguson. John was blessed with seven great grandchildren, Isabella, Amaya, Mical, Micah, Talia, Riann and David Clinton. The family wishes, in lieu of flowers, that donations be given to the , 3846 W. 75th, Prairie Village, KS 66208 or Heartland Hospice, 4601 College Blvd., Ste. 160, Leawood, KS 66211.
