Joseph Knaus Obituary
Joseph Knaus, 66, Kansas City, died Thursday, May 1, 2014. He was born May 6, 1947, in Kansas City, KS, and was a graduate of St. Benedict's College, Atchison, KS. Joe served four years in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War, before spending 11 years as a police officer in Johnson County, KS. He and Kathy Amer were married on August 2, 1975. He was a dedicated father and husband. An avid reader, Joe had a passionate interest in American military history and was especially well-versed in World War II. He had a love for baseball, rugby, football, grilling, and poker and was a magnificent storyteller. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Joe Knaus, and his sister, Jaime Burch. He leaves his wife, Kathy; son, James and his wife, Sondra; daughter, Angela and her partner, Vu Nguyen; his grandchildren, Sarah and Joseph; brother, Jack, and sisters, Pam and Patty. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at the Joseph A. Butler & Son Funeral Home, 19th & Minnesota Ave., KCK, where friends may call beginning at 6 p.m. Family burial services will be at a later date. (Arr.: Joseph A. Butler & Son, 913- 371-7000)
