Barbara Ann Blaylock, 82, of Lee's Summit passed away on May 28, 2014 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was born to Sidney M. and Ruth D. Yuro on August 19, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio. Barbara proudly served in the United States Air Force and while serving in Germany she met and married the love of her life. In addition to her Air Force service she was employed by several federal agencies before retiring from the Social Security Administration in October 1989. Barbara never met a stranger, sharing joy, laughter, hugs and peppermints with all those she encountered daily, whether at the mall, in her aerobics class, at a local restaurant or on the street. For the past ten years she organized and led monthly lunches with a group of magnificent friends from aerobics classes. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Michael Robert Blaylock, her sister Vondell Stevens, and a granddaughter Amy Elizabeth Blaylock. She is survived by her devoted caregiver and husband of 60 years, Robert Blaylock, of the home, one daughter, Jenny Spray (Bob) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, a brother, Newton Brown of Savannah, Georgia, a daughter-in-law, Sonja Blaylock of Mobile, Alabama, a granddaughter, Ashley Jackson (Ben) of Mobile, Alabama, a grandson Nathan Blaylock (Maggie) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, a grandson Daniel Spray of Fort Smith, Arkansas and four great grandchildren, Walker and Baylor Jackson and Jax and Kendall Blaylock and a host of friends. A special thank you to the staff of Kansas City Hospice, the nursing staff in particular. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 2nd at 1:00 pm at Longview Funeral Home with inurnment at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas at a later date (arr.
