Obituary Condolences Gallery

Oliver Scott Preiss, 60, of Kansas City, MO, died Saturday morning, June 7, 2014. A native of St. Louis, MO, Scott, as he was called by family and friends, was a graduate of Missouri State University and earned a Masters in TESOL at the University of Central Missouri. Scott's creative mind led him to pursue his life's passions including music, language, writing, and traveling the world teaching English. He was a life-long recycler and repurposer, creating incredible sculptures and unique furniture. Scott specialized in restoring grand pianos. He also repurposed vintage pianos of all kinds. All who knew him will miss his wicked sense of humor and his gift for story telling. He is survived by his wife, Joy, and their beloved dog, Sasha. He also leaves his mother, Jessie Preiss; sister, Ellen Pund and husband Cliff; brothers, Frank Preiss and Jeff Preiss and wife Darla; numerous nieces and nephews; in-laws E.J. Foster and his wife Virginia. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Oliver O. Preiss. Cremation will be followed by a family memorial at a later date.
