DAVID D. HILL Obituary
After a courageous three and a half year battle with ALS, David D. Hill of Austin entered his Heavenly home on June 12, 2014 with his family by his side. David was born in Coffeyville, KS August 26, 1946 to Delbert & Bonnie Hill. He graduated from high school in Coffeyville. David enlisted in the USMC in 1967, earned a rank of sergeant and received numerous awards and commendations. After returning from Vietnam he completed his BS from K-State in Manhattan, KS and later his MS from Wichita State University. After retiring from a career with the U. S. Probation Office, District of Kansas in 1998, he then pursued careers as railroad conductor and paralegal investigator. In 2006 he moved to Austin, TX to live closer to family. His true loves outside of his family were fishing, enjoying nature and playing golf. Throughout David's life he was a devout Christian. It was his strong faith that allowed him to maintain the ability to love, laugh and bring joy with his sense of humor during a most difficult time. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife Mary Ann of nearly 46 years and a caring and proud father and "PaPa". David is survived by his parents; wife Mary Ann; daughter Lisa and son-in-law, Charles D'Andrade; granddaughters Brooke and Riley; grandson Chase; brother Barry (Karin), (SC), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Sandy Schwinn (OK), nieces and nephew and many other dear family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dan. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 11am at Austin Baptist Church. Guests are asked to attend in bright colors, purple being a color of choice to honor David's K-State Pride. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Austin Baptist Church or the ALS Association in David's honor at:http://web.alsa.org/goto/BigWaveDaveWalkinWarriors.
