DONALD "DON" JENKINS Obituary
Donald "Don" Jenkins, 75, of Spring Hill, KS passed away June 19, 2014 at his home. Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 24th, 2014 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS 66083, 913- 592-2244. Visitation: 5:00 pm before the service, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park, KS. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com Don was born October 23rd, 1938 in Kansas City, KS to Clarence and Lula (Mayme) Jenkins. He grew up in Stilwell, KS and graduated from Stilwell High School in 1956. While living in Stilwell he worked on his family farm. Don married Anna Mendoza on August 18, 1957 in Stilwell, KS. They lived in Stilwell until moving to Olathe and then in 1974 they moved to Spring Hill. Don worked for 17 years doing sod work for Meyers Turf in Olathe, then worked for 23 years for Johnson County doing road and bridge maintenance. He fixed lawn mowers for people and volunteered at the Spring Hill Fire Department for about 12 years. Don enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. During his spare time he loved auctioneering and pulled Shetland Ponies as a hobby. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Colton Don Jenkins. He is survived by children: Curt (Kelly) Jenkins, Fontana, KS, Greg (Sally) Jenkins, Olathe, KS, Tammy (Steve) Polkey, Paola, KS, Rusty (Cathy) Jenkins, Bucyrus, KS and Mark (Michelle) Jenkins, Overland Park, KS; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and sister, Shirley Burke, Belton, MO.
