Warren L. Gose, 84, Independence, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron. He was born in Trenton, Mo., on Nov. 8, 1929, to the late Coda and Hazel (Morrison) Gose. Warren graduated from high school in Arkansas City, Kan., and went on to earn degrees from Graceland College and the University of Kansas. After graduating from KU he enlisted in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving during the Korean War. Warren was a Certified Public Accountant and spent much of his work life in private practice and governmental accounting. For the last 16 years of his career he served as Vice President of Finance at Northwest Missouri State University where he also on occasion taught undergraduate accounting courses. Warren was a Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow and also served as president of the Northwest Chapter of the Missouri Society of CPAs. He was a lifelong and dedicated member of the Community of Christ Church where he served in numerous ministerial positions including pastoring congregations in three cities. Warren was privileged to serve as a counselor for Camp Quality both in the United States and Australia. In 1960, Warren married Barbara (Barnhard) and together they enjoyed over 53 wonderful years. Warren had a fondness for traveling all over the United States and abroad. Even after a debilitating stroke slowed him down, Warren's venturesome spirit remained and he continued to travel to numerous locales near and far. Among Warren's many talents was his ability to make fantastic candy from scratch, which was a skill treasured by his kids. Above all else Warren will be forever remembered as a friend to all and cherished for his generous nature, kind spirit, gentle manner, sweet tooth, wonderful sense of humor, infectious laugh and friendly smile. Warren was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Amy (Gose) Wilcoxson. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son, Peter (Tracey) Gose and grandchildren Grant, Gillian and Graham, all of Parkville, Mo., son, Christopher (Michelle) Gose and grandchildren Vanessa, Hannah, and Jack all of Holladay, Utah, and grandson, Christian Wilcoxson of Omaha, Neb.
