AUGUST JOHN "JACK" WILKUS Obituary
AUGUST JOHN (JACK) WILKUS August John (Jack) Wilkus 88, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, July 4th, 2014 at the home. He was born in Chickasha, OK, July 10, 1925 to August John and Irene Ann (Carney) Wilkus and is survived and loved by his wife of 64 years, Teresa (Lavery) Wilkus; daughters Karie Tindle and Suzanne (Jim) Coyle; son Bill (Valerie) Wilkus, brother James (Rita) Wilkus, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his son David Wilkus; brothers Bob (Dorothy) Wilkus and Joseph (Mary Catherine) Wilkus and sister Mary Lee (Bernard) McGrail. Jack served in the navy during WWII for two years on the destroyer USS Shaw between his studies at Texas Tech and Kansas University, where he graduated from the school of mechanical engineering. He spent the majority of his career working in the power division of Black and Veatch and enjoyed a long and happy retirement playing bridge, golf, working in the yard and following sports. Jack always made marriage and fatherhood his priorities and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W 103rd St, Overland Park, KS 66214 , July 9, 2014, followed by a Memorial Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Community Hospice who provided excellent care.
