WILLIAM CALVIN "BILL" BOREN Obituary
WILLIAM CALVIN "BILL" BOREN William "Bill" Boren, 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. He was born October 7, 1916, to John and Bertha (Seigrist) Boren in Checotah, Oklahoma. He came to Kansas City in 1936 and worked as a welder for the Fruehauf Trailer Company. He became a carpenter in 1950 and belonged to the Carpenter's Local #61. He was very skilled at his work. Bill was a WWII Veteran. He was a member of VFW Post 4242. He also volunteered as a Chaplain Assistant at the Kansas City Veterans Hospital accumulating over 10,000 hours. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Raytown for 59 years. He served as a deacon and belonged to several other groups in the church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marie Hildebrant Boren; son, David; a sister, a brother, and his parents. Survivors include his daughter Marilynn Shubkagel and her husband Harry; of Independence, MO; grandchildren: Roger Shubkagel and his wife Kelle, Donna Shubkagel and Keith Shubkagel, all of Olathe, KS; and great grandchildren Mason and Lauren. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Floral Hills. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends Monday, July 28 from 6-8pm.
