FLOYD HURLEY Obituary
Floyd Hurley, 87, of Independence, Mo., passed away at home Wednesday, August 6, 2014, surrounded by loved ones. Floyd was born March 11, 1927, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of John and Pearl Hurley. He met the love of his life, Joyce Diane Kunkle, and they married on March 21, 1947. Floyd held his one and only job for 50 years, retiring from Wilcox Electric. He enjoyed being at his cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks, bird watching, gardening, and most of all, being surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, and exceptional Pop. Floyd is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joyce; daughters, Marlena Ruth Sackewitz (Steve Fabac) and Victoria Elizabeth Stumpenhaus (Gary) of Independence; four grandchildren, Heather Sackewitz Billingsley, Shannon Sackewitz (Jackie), Chris Stumpenhaus, and Justin (Ashley) Stumpenhaus; seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, sisters, Bonnie Hurley Kunkle and Louise Hurley Yotz, step-sister, Peggy Kunkle Trussell and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home.
