MARTIN S. BUCKMAN Obituary
Martin Spalding Buckman, 95, Kansas City North, passed August 29, 2014. The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, at the McGilley Antioch Chapel where a rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Contributions are suggested in honor of Martin's wife, Helen, to the Martin was born March 31, 1919, in Shelbina, Mo., to Alfred and Alice (Gilchrist) Buckman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Philippines during World War II. Martin married Helen Elizabeth Himmelberg on April 28, 1947, in Glasgow, Mo. He worked as a grain merchandizer for Farmland Industries. He was a 60 year member of St. Charles Parish and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; parents, Alfred and Dee; and sister, Mary Schulte. Survivors include sisters, Josephine Williams and Emma Lou Dimmitt; children, Susan Williams, Mark Buckman, Fred Buckman and Mary Curts; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
