SIDNEY ALAN HAYNES

Sidney Alan Haynes, 72, of Kearney, Missouri, passed away peacefully at St. Luke's Northland Hospital, Friday, December 2, 2016. Alan was born in Tulsa, OK, to Wilbert and Elizabeth (Betty) Haynes on June 11, 1944. He married Dorothy Swenson on December 27, 1961, in Marceline, MO, and was a loving husband for nearly 55 years. Both graduated from Marceline High School in 1962. He worked as a meat cutter for 17 years at Bill & Bob's IGA in Marceline. He retired in 2007 from the BNSF Railroad after 30 years of service as a locomotive engineer. He proudly served as the BLET Local Chairman of Division 75 for many years. He also served as mayor of Marceline (1974-75), and was a member of the Marceline Masonic Lodge #481 AF & AM, and the Knights of Columbus of Liberty, Missouri. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family poolside and around the Tiki Bar. He loved beach vacations and was an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Kearney; daughters: Lorri Hamm (Don) of Trimble, Kim Bunfill (Eric) of Kearney, Julie Garcia (John) of Kansas City; grandchildren: Brandon (Iva) Burgener, Jason (Ashley) Burgener, Ashley (Matthew) Collins, Megan Bunfill, Sydney and Katelyn Garcia; great- grandchildren: Ryleigh and Jase Burgener, Zoey and Casen Burgener, Colt and Chaz Collins; step great-grandchildren: Makayla, Samantha, Addison, Cody and Hailie; brothers and sisters: David Haynes, Stephen Haynes, Cathy Tyree, Marilee Davis; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; sister and brother: Nancy Stockton and Jeffrey Haynes. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 6, from 5-7:30 p.m., with Rosary beginning at 5 p.m., at Park Lawn Northland Chapel in Liberty. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 7, at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
