Kimberly Ann Batty passed away at her new home in Crossville, TN, on November 7, 2012, after being born and spending most of her life in Kansas. Kim was born to Robert and Alma Fitzhugh on April 28, 1954, in Colby, KS. Kim was the first member of her family to attend college, graduating with a degree in nursing from the University of Kansas, before working as a nurse in the recovery room and later in outpatient clinics. After marrying Larry Batty, she left nursing to raise two sons, Travis and Turner Batty, who both attended Blue Valley North High School. Kim was active at Blue Valley North, including coaching academic teams and running for a seat on the Blue Valley School Board. Kim was very proud of the success of her children, who both now live in New York, NY, and are graduates of Ivy League universities. Kim was an avid horseback rider, who had moved to Tennessee to ride more, but also enjoyed golf and country music. Kim loved being fashionable, proudly having color- coordinated glasses and cowboy hats for each outfit. Kim is survived by her sons, Travis and Turner and daughters- in-law Jasmine Mitchell and Christine Batty. Visitation will be held at noon, with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive in Kansas City, KS. Donations in Kim's name may be made to The Resolution Project at www.resolutionproject.org
