Donald L. Jones, 77, passed away December 16, 2012. Don was born in Atchison, KS, the son of Harry and Zona (Winchell) Jones. After graduating from Atchison High School, he joined the Marine Corps, serving during the Korean conflict. In 1958 he married Lavara Fevurly (Vogan). Don made his career in auto mechanics and the repair of heavy construction equipment. He retired as rental department manager from Knopke Brothers Contractors Supply Co. in 1993. He loved to spend time working in his yard, playing golf, working at his church, traveling, caring for his cats and the many foster kittens he had, and spending time with his family. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter, DeNise Jones and brothers, Harry Jones, Herbert Jones, Wayne Jones, and Sonny Jones. He is survived by son, Dean Vogan of Rosamond, CA; his daughter, Michelle Jones of Edwardsville, KS; one grandson, Richard Vogan; brothers: Norman Jones, Robert Jones and Henry Jones; sisters: Ethel Miller, Opal Reynolds and Anna Holmberg. Don will be remembered most for his optimistic outlook, his eagerness to help, and his kind and gentle spirit. He will be sorely missed by those whose lives he has touched. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Blue Ridge Baptist Church, Independence, MO, or to the . Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Park Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow with military honors in Green Lawn Cemetery. (Arr: Park Lawn 816-523-1234).
