Obituary Condolences

KELLEY Betty (Elizabeth) Elaine Kelley passed away at age 83 after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. She leaves her husband of almost 63 years, Max Kelley, daughter, Marilyn Kelley, and two granddaughters, Heather Kelley Bryson (spouse Nathan) and Melissa Kelley. She was preceded in death by her son, Jack Kelley, and infant daughter, Deborah Kelley. Betty was born in Lancaster County, NE, to Jack and Mary Beitman. She married her husband, Max, September 16, 1950. After graduating from Central High in Kansas City, she worked for the Bureau for the Blind, as well as 30 years of civil service with the IRS and General Service Administration (GSA). She felt blessed to share her 27-year retirement with her grandchildren, Heather and Melissa. She kept active with her Delphian Literary Club from High School and with many friends throughout her retirement, enjoying bowling, canasta games, and trips to the Lake of the Ozarks. Visitation will be Sunday 4-6 p.m. with the Vigil Service at 5:30 p.m. at Coronation of Our Lady Catholic Church, 13000 Bennington Ave. in Grandview. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 26 at Coronation. Burial will be immediately following in Longview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the Kansas City Harvester's Food Bank.
