Paul Eugene Myers, 80, Village of Loch Lloyd, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House with family present. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., with celebration of life service following at Belton Christian Church, 409 Airway Lane, Belton, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Bel- Ray Sunrise Lions Club, P.O. Box 901, Belton, Missouri 64012, or Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145. Cremation. Paul was born June 17, 1933, to Melvin R. Myers, Sr. and Ethel Martin Myers, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Eastern High School, Greentown, Indiana, in 1951. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1954. Paul served in the Korean War for 18 months before being transferred to the Grandview Air Force Base (Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base). He was assigned to the AACS Group under the MATS Command in the administrative office. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Commendation Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. Paul married Ruby Groh of Belton, Missouri, in 1955 and, after his discharge in August 1955, moved to his hometown of Greentown, Indiana. Paul was employed by Chrysler Corporation, Kokomo, Indiana, for 30 years, rising to the position of General Production Superintendent. Paul and Ruby retired to Florida in 1985. Ruby preceded Paul's death in 1991. Paul moved to Belton in 1998, where he married Norma Stevens Rettman in 1999, and has been active in the Belton community up until his death. Paul was an active member of Lions International for 50 years, where he achieved the office of District Governor of Florida in 1995. Paul served as President of the Bel- Ray Sunrise Lions Club and helped build the club to one of the larger humanitarian service clubs in the area. He served eight years on the Belton City Planning Commission. He served on the BCED Board for three years. Paul served as the President of the Belton Chamber of Commerce and was Golf Chairman for two years. He received the Earl Houghland Award in 2009. He received Missouri House Resolution No. 3487, adopted July 7, 2003, for his many accomplishments in helping mankind. He received Missouri House Resolution No. 4133, adopted October 2, 2013, for his 50 years of service to Lions International, along with many other awards and recognitions. Paul was a 47 year member of the Greentown, Indiana, Masonic Lodge No. 341 and a 30-year member of the American Legion Post No. 0317, Greentown, Indiana. Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; sons: David Myers, Village of Loch Lloyd, Missouri; Anthony Myers (Roberta), Russiaville, Indiana; Lyle Myers (Brenda), Gilbert, Arizona; Dustin Myers (Helen), Belton, Missouri; stepsons: Greg Rettman (Johna), Lee's Summit, Missouri; and Gary Rettman, Overland Park, Kansas; his grandchildren: Tana Mathieu, Matthew Myers, Mandy Carter, Meghan Walters, Tasha Fink, Hannah Laizure, Cameron Myers, Logan House, Carissa Myers, Catrina Troja, Zach Rettman, Hannah Rettman, Madeline Rettman and Jack Rettman; great- grandchildren, Grayson Mathieu, Sarah and Zoe Carter, Haley, Brody and Kerrington Fink; Tinley and Briley Laizure; Troy Choate and Townes Wilson Troja; brother, Melvin Myers (Lorene), Lake Placid, Florida; and sisters: Marilyn Bailey (Richard), Noblesville, Indiana; and Delores Brown (Max), Claypool, Indiana.
