LARRY BEAUCHAMP Obituary

Larry Beauchamp, 76, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home in Weston, MO. A visitation will be held 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston. Funeral services, with military honors, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services, and inurnment will be at the Platte City Cemetery, at a later date. The family suggests contributions be given to: Wounded Warrior Project-P.O. Box 758517- Topeka, KS 66675, or to the charity of one's choice. Larry was born February 27, 1937 in Leavenworth, KS to Lawrence and Elsie E. (Baker) Beauchamp. Due to the early passing of his mother, Larry was raised alongside his cousins, who would be considered his brothers and sisters. Raised in the Beverly, MO area, Larry later served his country during the Vietnam Conflict as a member of the U.S. Army's Special Forces divisions of the Green Berets, and the Airborne Rangers. During the course of serving three tours of duty in Vietnam, he was awarded 2 Silver Stars, 2 Bronze Stars, 3 Purple Hearts, and numerous other commendations. Afterwards, Larry returned to Dahlonega, GA, and began his career as staff member and instructor for the Riverside Military Academy in Riverside, GA. After his retirement, he returned home to live in Weston. Larry served as a Past President of the American Legion, and was a member of the V.F.W. in Dahlonega, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry is survived by: his sisters Sharon Layton, and husband James "Ollie" of Weston, and Janet Beauchamp Fourhorn of Leavenworth; his brother Roger Beauchamp, and wife Christine of Lansing, KS; his cousind Kenneth Beauchamp of Platte City, MO, and Douglas Beauchamp of Manhattan, KS, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
