1918 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
TERESA (KNELLER) LIEBERMAN Teresa (Kneller) Lieberman, age 95.7, of Westwood Hills, Kan., formerly of Chicago and Skokie, Ill., passed away on the 21st of November, 2013, from congestive heart disease. Teresa was born April 11, 1918, in Chicago, the sixth of seven children born to Annie (Stine) and Herman Kneller. A much adored baby who was beautiful with green eyes, Teresa was born deaf and would have several surgeries. Additionally, at age 11, she suffered a burst appendix and was hospitalized for three years; although consequently missing three years of school, she was smart and was able to resume her schooling in the proper grade. Teresa graduated from high school and took college courses at Northwestern University, later working briefly for the United States Navy. She married Morris, and had one daughter, Linda (AKA Lynn). She was involved with her siblings and their families, spent time with her husband and friends, participated in a book club, participated in folk dances (went, alone, to a folk dance camp in San Diego), and at times gardened with her good friend, Rosina. At age 82, after the death of her husband, she moved to Westwood Hills to reside with her daughter. She quickly became involved in the community, as a block representative reporting to the city council. Additionally, she walked the mall daily; took several trips, by car and by air, with her daughter and friends; made many good friends via the Spark Program whereby she took classes and enjoyed many good meals with her friends at various restaurants; acted in two short independent films; and was keenly interested in politics and the issues of the day. Teresa was a shining light; a joyful, kindly, radiant soul who is sorely missed. Teresa is survived by her daughter and joy of her life, Linda (AKA Lynn) who lovingly cared for her during her extended illness, and Peggysue of the home; as well as cousins, multiple nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Memorial services shall be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 W. 47th Street, Kansas City, Mo. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the , the V Foundation for Cancer Research, the SPARK Program at UMKC, The Humane Farming Association and/or the Great Plains Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Great Plains SPCA).
