RALPH D. DANSBY Obituary
Ralph D. Dansby, 81, passed away Dec. 21, 2013, at Village Hospice House, Lee's Summit, Mo. Funeral with military honors to be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at Floral Hills with visitation at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Mr. Dansby was born to Roland Dansby and May Hagerty Dansby Jan. 7, 1932, in Laingsburg, Mich. He and his wife S. Majorie Dansby were married in Chesterfield, SC, on June 9, 1957. Mr. Dansby received a full scholarship to Hillsdale College-MI. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a Master Sgt. on March 31, 1971. He also retired from the Federal Reserve Bank. His proudest accomplishment was having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was seldom seen without his U.S. Marine Corps retired hat. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He is survived by two sisters, Ella Terrian of Huntsville, Ala., and Carol Dansby of Morrice, Mich.; and brother, Richard Dansby of Terrell, Texas. He leaves many nieces and nephews; two daughters, Karen Thomas, Andrea Turk; son, Jeffrey Dansby (Kelly); five grandchildren, Adam Evinger, Kandis and Brandon Thomas, Benjamin Dansby, all of Lee's Summit, and Kerri Orf of Seattle, Wash.; and great grandson, Jayden Dewain Thomas. He loved his grandchildren, who knew him as Grandpa and Papa. Memorial contributions may be made to Village House, 600 NW Pryor Rd, Lee's Summit, and the Wounded Warrior Project, (877) 832-6997.
