JOHN HENRY GOLBA Obituary
John Henry Golba, 96, Evergreen, Colo., passed away Feb. 27, 2014, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 555 W. Main, Gardner, Kan. Burial at St. Columbia Catholic Cemetery, Gardner, Kan. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, (913) 856-7111. A Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Evans Home Health Hospice, 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439. Condolences at www.brucefuneralhome.com John was born June 23, 1917, in Gardner to Joseph and Maryann (Barthol) Golba. He grew up in Gardner, moved to Shawnee in 1965 and has lived in Evergreen for the last 37 years. John married Lois Elizabeth Powell on April 11, 1944, in Edgerton, Kan. He worked on the General Motors assembly line and was the owner of John Golba and Sons Lawn & Landscaping before moving to Colorado. John was an avid fisherman and pheasant hunter. He enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling and vacationing. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lois and siblings, Frank, Nellie, Ann, Sophie and Edward. John is survived by his children, Charles and wife Becky Golba, Louisburg, Kan., Marylyn and husband Marvin Cansler, Shawnee, Kan., John Golba, Evergreen, Tim Golba, Lenexa, Kan., and Carolyn Golba, Evergreen; his sister, Lucille Brown, Higginsville, Mo.; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
