JOE GLORIOSO Obituary

JOE GLORIOSO Joe Glorioso passed away quietly on July 16 at the age of 95. Born on February 14, 1922 to Steve and Rose Glorioso, who immigrated from Cefalu, Sicily. Joe lived a long and active life. Joe was a track star at Northeast High School. After graduation he volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving as a radio operator in the Pacific. Following the war he attended the Kansas City Art Institute to become a dress designer, eventually owning Krest Originals, a local dress manufacturing factory. After selling the company Joe went on to develop and build residential housing in the Parkville area. He had the ability to fix anything in a house and did so for family and friends for many years. Joe lived at Wexford Place in his final months. Joe was preceded in death by his second wife of 47 years, Wilma. He is survived by his son, Steven Glorioso and daughter-in-law, Regina Glorioso, along with Wilma's two granddaughters Kristine Courtney and Kathleen Smerchek, their spouses Billy Courtney and Mark Smerchek, and their children who were dedicated to "Joe Baby", as were many other members of her family. Joe was proud of his many accomplishments, including his many high school track medals, his service in the Army, being able to send his son Steve to college, who became the first Glorioso with a college degree. Most importantly, he cherished the love and affection of his family. The family wishes to thank the staffs at Wexford Place and St. Luke's Hospice, who provided him excellent care. Remembrance gathering will be at Cascone's, 3737 No. Oak, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, July 23rd. Private burial is planned for a later date in Braymer, MO. where his ashes will be interned next to Wilma's. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Black Oak Cemetery to help them maintain their rural cemetery c/o of Kristine Courtney, 6300 N. Lucerne, KCMO 64151.
