ST. CHARLES – Mae DePauw, 96, of St. Charles, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, April 14, 2014, at Tower Hill Health Care Center. She was born May 1, 1917, to Edward and Elizabeth (nee Wright) Auer, in Leyden Township. She was a graduate of St. Charles High School in 1935. Mae met her future husband, Ed, in Wheaton. Ed joined the Coast Guard in 1939. They became engaged in 1941, and were married on March 6, 1942. She was employed by United States Printing & Lithograph for six years; following that, she began to raise her family of four boys. She was a member of the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church, the VFW
Post 5036 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Kane County Home Maker Extension. As she was raising her four boys, she was active in the PTA, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at Lincoln School.
She is survived by her sons, Richard (Veada) DePauw and John DePauw and fiancé Debra O'Shea; daughters-in-law, Joan and Darcy; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many dear friends. She will be dearly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; twin sons, Donald and Ronald; nine brothers and sisters; and daughter-in-law, Cindy.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles. Burial will be in River Hills Memorial Park. The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the funeral home.
