Ellen Tigan Obituary

Born: Aug. 31, 1922; in Oregon, Ill.
Died: June 12, 2011; in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES – Ellen "Joan" Hayes Tigan, 88, formerly of Rochelle, passed away at Provena Pineview Health Center in St. Charles on Sunday, June 12, 2011.

She was born on Aug. 31, 1922, in Oregon, Ill., to John Barry and Blanche (Cooper) Hayes.

She married Eugene Willis Tigan, who preceded her in death in 1994. Joan was also preceded by two sisters, Patricia Hayes and Evelyn Cooper; and her daughter, Ellen DeLordo on Jan. 17, 2011.

Prior to retiring, she was an administrative assistant for the St. Charles Park District. Memberships include St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Tigan of St. Charles and Jay (Evi) Tigan of Santa Cruz, Calif.; four daughters, Kit (Dave) Hakanson of Rochelle, Anne Tigan of Madison, Wis., Elizabeth (Nicholas) Ladji of Peoria and Lucy Tigan of Dayton, Ohio; son-in-law, Randy DeLordo of
Downers Grove; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rochelle at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011, with visitation one hour before the Mass. Thursday, June 16, visitation will be at Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.
