Dawne Carroll Kahle, 70, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at Batavia Rehabilitation and Health Center in Batavia. She was born Jan. 30, 1943, in Waukegan, the daughter of Robert and Lois (nee Maiman) Huffman.

Dawne graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign with a bachelor's degree in science and worked as a microbiologist for Abbott Laboratories, MWRD, Loyola, West Suburban Hospital and Cargill during her career. She was a proud member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She was a master leatherworker and a member of the Prairie State Leather Guild for many years. Dawne was very active in Boy Scouts of America and was a scout recipient of the Burton and Silver-Beaver awards. She was also the Cub Scout Leader of Pack 99 for over nine years.

She is survived by her lifelong love, James F. Kahle; her children, Kevin (Mae) Kahle of Garden Grove, Calif., Mark (Christine) Kahle of Cortland and Robin Kahle of Chicago; her grandchildren, Alex and Katherine Kahle; a brother, Tom (Annie) Huffman of Antioch; a sister, Linda Carl-Winer of Waukegan; her best friend, Richard A. Devine; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. (three blocks west of the river and one block south of Rt. 64) in St. Charles.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Geneva.
