John Mark Jensen Obituary
John Mark Jensen was born Nov. 19, 1943, in Chicago, the son of Axel and Margaret (Juul) Jensen. He passed away on Aug. 4, 2013, at home.

John lived in Chicago until age 10 when the family moved to Wedron. He graduated from Serena High School in 1961. After graduation, he began working for Western Electric. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965, including one year in Vietnam. After his military service, he returned to Western Electric and began taking college classes at IVCC.

He married Dorothy Nesbit in London Mills on June 17, 1967. John attended the University of Illinois in Urbana from 1969 to 1971 and graduated with a B.S. in electrical engineering and computer science. He returned to Western Electric after graduation and continued to work for Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent until his retirement in 2000 after 35 years.

John is survived by his wife of 46 years; three daughters, Julia (Brian) Busey, Jennifer (William) Morano and Deborah (Selawe) Tau; four granddaughters, Lauren and Brooke Busey, Madeline Morano and Christina Tau; and his brother, Jack (Geri) Jensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Ann.

John was extremely devoted to his entire family. He led by example to instill morals, values, a love of learning and a strong work ethic. He survived cancer for 17 years and, although there were many challenges, he always maintained a positive attitude and a cheerful disposition.

He enjoyed playing Sudoku, watching the Fighting Illini, the Chicago Bears and old movies. He was happiest at home, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Seasons Hospice allowed John to fulfill his desire to remain at home, at peace and in comfort, with those who loved him very much. The family is most grateful for the unparalleled care and respect they gave John and his loved ones.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Aug. 10, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street (three blocks west of the river and one block south of Route 64) in St. Charles, where a service will follow the visitation at noon. Interment will be private.
