ST. CHARLES – Joseph James Castronovo Sr., 84, of St. Charles passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.|
He was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Chicago.
Joseph was a graduate of the University of Illinois and became a hydraulic engineer. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Army, he became an entrepreneur. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf and especially his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Castronovo of St. Charles; his son, Tom (Cindy) of Geneva, daughter, Mary Lisa Vale (Thomas) of St. Charles, and his son, Michael (Sharon) of Missouri City, Texas; as well as his many grandchildren, Tommy Jr., Lauren, Ryan, Annabeth and Alex Castronovo and Mike, Matt, Danny and Gina Vale; and his sister, Jennie Castronovo of Schaumburg.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Jr.; his parents, James and Ella Castronovo; and a brother, Jack.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at St. Patrick Crane Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles IL 60175. Interment will be private. Contributions may be made to Delnor Cancer Center, Geneva, Il.
