GENEVA – Ronald H. Canaday, 80, a resident of St. Charles since 1992, died of natural causes on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Delnor Hospital in Geneva. He was born on Feb, 27, 1933, in Champaign, Ill. He was preceded in death by his mother Madge, father Howard and his brother Bob, sister-in-law Thelma and their three children.
Beloved husband of Janet Phillips, whom he married on Jan. 20, 1952, loving father of Howard Kevin who preceded him in death. Uncle to several nieces and nephews.
Ron was drafted into the army in 1953 and served in Korea until 1955. He attended the University of Illinois from 1955 to 1959 with a degree in Accounting. He had a career with Guide Lamp, division of General Motors from 1959 to 1967, then accepted a controller position with Miles Laboratory in Elkhart, Ind., finishing with a 20-year career with Molex as CFO. Afterwards, he served as Director and Chairman of the Board of Harris Bank, Naperville, while also serving on local organizations; Family services, Little Friends, YMCA, 100 Club and a director on the Board of McKey Door Manufacturing Aurora. He retired from all the above when he experienced health issues in 2002.
Private Services were held at the Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles. There was no visitation.
