GENEVA – Ronald J. Stachowicz, 74, of Geneva, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, peacefully at his home.|
He was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Casimir and Irene (Borkowski) Stachowicz.
Ronald grew up in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago and attended Gordon Tech High School. He graduated from Northern Illinois University. Ronald served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He owned and operated Stachowicz Business Forms for many years. Ronald was a resident of Geneva for 42 years and was very involved in the Geneva community. He was an avid fan of Geneva sports. He was a Pride Volunteer at Harrison Elementary School, was a Scoutmaster, proudly served on the "Chain Gang" at Geneva football games and was both a coach and board member for Tri Cities Soccer. Ronald also was a member of the American Legion and St. Peter Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and was an amateur magician to the great entertainment of family, friends and acquaintances. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Sally (Smith); children Karen (Christopher) Genders of Germantown Hills and David (Kathryn) of Geneva; grandchildren Ethan and Morgan Genders and Lauren, Ryen and Eleanor Stachowicz; sisters Armella (Ted) Schuh of Chicago and Therese (Christopher) Cecil of Indianapolis; brother Steve (Connie) Grzeszczak of Elk Grove Village; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and loving step-father Edmund Grzeszczak.
Funeral prayers will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 9:30 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home, 324 E. State St. (Route 38), Geneva, proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church, 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva, for Celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., with Father Martins Emeh Celebrant.
Burial will be held privately.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Malone Funeral Home, Geneva, with a liturgical service at 7:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be directed to a cause close to Ronald and would be greatly appreciated.
