BATAVIA – Bertha E. Staudt, 97, of Batavia, passed away Sept. 13, 2013, at Tower Hill Health Care Center in South Elgin. Bertha was born March 2, 1916, in Dickinson, N.D., the daughter of John and Katherine (Elberg) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to Albert "Albie" Staudt on May 3, 1947.|
She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia since 1952. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosalie Ott; a granddaughter, Stephanie Ott; a great-grandson, Brian; a brother, Nick Schmidt of Dickinson, N.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albie; brothers, Bill, Albert and Ted; and a sister, Eleanor.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at the Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
Funeral services will start with prayers from the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 W. Main St., Batavia, to celebrate Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva.
