Edwin V. Winter, 91, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2014. He was born in Chicago to the late Antoni and Wiktoria (Kowalska) Winter.
Ed was the loving husband of Lorraine (Gonka) for 67 years. He is survived by his children Sandra (Lincoln) Lockhart and Anthony (Chris) Winter and grandchildren Peter (Kristen) and Ben Winter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean (Stanley) Burkacki.
Ed proudly served as a Technical Sergeant during WWII in the South Pacific. An excellent machinist, Ed fulfilled a dream and co-owned TriPoles in Franklin Park. He was an active member of the Batavia Seniors Group.
The family thanks the staff of the Geneva Rehab and Nursing Center for their loving care to Ed over the last several months and to the Seasons Hospice of Glen Ellyn.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. (Rt. 31) in Batavia.
Prayers at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, before proceeding to Holy Cross Church, 2300 Main St., Batavia, for Mass of Celebration at 10:30 a.m. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church or the Batavia Historical Society.
