BATAVIA – Elizabeth Ernzen, 99, of Batavia, passed away Aug. 29, 2013, at her residence in Heritage Wood Retirement Community. She was born July 28, 1914, in Aurora, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (nee McVicker) Goodendorf. She was united in marriage to Ralph Ernzen on Aug. 2, 1942, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Aurora.|
She loved her family, Notre Dame and the Cubs.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Ernzen, of Batavia, Mike (Debbie) Ernzen, of Poquoson, Va., and Jim (Lu) Ernzen of Mesa, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Polly Ernzen (Jeff) Volkman of Sugar Grove; 14 grandchildren, Becky (Chris) Henrikson, Kellie (Erwin) Kruger, Kristy Ernzen, Julie (Neil) Garcia, Jackie Ernzen, Abby (Jeff) Beck, Jason (Laura) Ernzen, Kate, Emily, Sarah, Ben, Chris, John, and Josh Ernzen; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois Michels; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Dick; and three sisters, Mary Manville, Jane Lentz and Margaret Marie.
Visitation will be held from 3 until 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
Funeral services will begin with prayers at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Moss Family Funeral Home before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 W. Main St., Batavia, to celebrate Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at East Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Marmion Abbey, 850 Butterfield Road, Aurora, IL 60502.
