ST. CHARLES – Evelyn A. Evans, 99, of St. Charles and formerly of Wheeling and The Reserve of Geneva, passed away May 24, 2013, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. She was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Spencer, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Emma (nee Faerber) Fritz. She was united in marriage to Joseph Peter Evans.
Evelyn maintained a winter residence in Las Vegas for many years, where she enjoyed the Las Vegas lifestyle. She was an avid bowler, participating in many bowling leagues throughout her life. Evelyn enjoyed spending time outdoors, where she could often be found golfing or tending to her garden. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by three siblings, Florence Allen, Lester (Esther) Fritz and Emmaline Rasmussen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, and her siblings, Carl Fritz, Mildred Lucas, Hazel Wilson, Leona Klapprich, Floyd Fritz, Raymond Fritz, Pearl Keasling and Ernest Fritz.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. in Union Cemetery in St. Charles.
