Frederick Johansen Obituary

Died: May 26, 2011; in Twin Lakes, Wis.

TWIN LAKES, Wis. – Frederick C. "Fredex" Johansen, 60, of Twin Lakes, died at his home on Thursday May 26, 2011.

Frederick Charles Johansen was born on Feb. 4, 1951, in Geneva, the son of the late Donald and Shirley Seyler Johansen. He was a graduate of the class of 1969 from Geneva Community High School; and from Northern Illinois University, earning a degree in physical education.

He was employed by FedEx as a driver for more than 25 years.

On Feb. 6, 2010, he was united in marriage to Renee Peltier Petranech in the chapel at Plymouth Congregational Church in Burlington, Wis. From that day forward, they became known as "Frenee."

In high school, Fred was voted King of the Swedish Day Parade in Geneva. Fred was an extra in the movie "Fever Lake" filmed in Twin Lakes, playing a hunter. He enjoyed walking the dogs, Cody and Shiloh, woodworking, swing dancing and kayaking.

Fred is survived by his wife, Renee; three stepchildren, Christopher (Tiffani) Petranech of Chandler, Ariz., Jaree Petranech of Burlington and Aimee Orndorf of Twin Lakes; sister, Donna Staley of Geneva; a nephew, Scott (Coral) Staley; and great-nephews, Koen and Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald, in 2006; his mother, Shirley, in 2010; and a nephew, Collin M. Staley, in 2002.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday June 2, 2011, at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, 620 Legion Dr., Twin Lakes, with Deacon Stan Lowe officiating. Interment will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in New Munster, Wis. The Johansen Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Suicide Prevention/Crisis Intervention, 5407 8th Ave., Kenosha, WI 53140' or the Johansen family.
