James Reitmayer Obituary

ANTIOCH - James R. "The Rat" Reitmayer, 70, of Antioch, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Advocate Condell Hospital, Libertyville. He was born March 23, 1939, in St. Charles, the son of James J. and Margaret (Mares) Reitmayer, moving to Round Lake in 1968 and to Antioch in 1979.

From 1956 until 1962 he served in the U. S. Navy, after which he worked as a bricklayer and was a member of Local 56 of the BAC. Jim was an avid fisherman and enjoyed going to the casino.

On March 23, 1966, he married Cheryl Chalfant in Villa Park.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Cheryl; his children, James Charles (Natalie) Reitmayer of Deerfield, Richard John Reitmayer of Antioch, Melody (Ron) Avakian of McHenry, and James Nord of Missouri; his sister, Alexis Steele of Woodridge; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, James Charles Reitmayer Jr., and a brother, Lewis Reitmayer.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Route 83), with David Mitchell of the Jehovah's Witnesses of Antioch officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Friday until the time of services. Private interment will be in Union Cemetery, St. Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his memory, to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Attn: Charitable Accounting, One Kroc Drive, Oak Brook, IL 60523.

From Bill,Geno,Marce,Ianni Family Jim was a very sweet honest man and friends of many in his life touch a lot of people harts always fun to be with he was the best fisherman i nue and we fish alot together made jigs together at times i love the guy he was like part of family to me and i will miss Jim.
Hes in heaven now fishing haveing a good time.
My condolences to Cheryl, Rick, and Jimmy Reitmayer. We will all miss Jim he was my best friend. Bill
