John Rodney Brockmann

John Rodney "Rod" Brockmann, 87, a resident at the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia and formerly of St. Charles, IL.

Rod was born April 5, 1931 in Paullina, Iowa the son of Edgar Emil and Rosetta Henrietta (nee Kruse) Brockmann. Rod was united in marriage to Virginia French June 22, 1957, in Cherokee Iowa.

Rod was a passionate educator who loved to learn and even more he loved to teach. He worked as a teacher for St. Charles District 303 for more then 30 years. Rod had a love for his Lord and Savior. He worshiped at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Charles for many years. During Rod's earlier years he served in the United States Army during the Korean War as an assistant to the Chaplain.

He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; four children, Dawn (Dennis) Pryer, Mark Brockmann, Joel Brockmann and Sara (John) Porter; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a brother, Paul (Nancy) Brockmann; and a sister, Mary (Art) Goldgrabe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church; 101 S 6th Ave St. Charles, IL 60174 on Saturday August 11, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 am memorial service will follow after the visitation there at the church.
