BATAVIA – John William Swick Sr., 78, of Batavia, passed away unexpectedly March 1, 2014, while on a winter break in Florida. He was born Dec. 3, 1935, in Rochelle.
He retired in 2010 after working for 57 years as a Redi-Mix driver. He had received many safe driving awards.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth (Betsy) Swick; his children, John (Shirly) Swick Jr., David (Patti) Swick, Jesse Marlowe, and Janice (Swick) Bad Heart; four grandchildren, Shane (Sabrina) Schrauth, Sheena (Jeramy) Burlison, Chris Swick, and Dave Swick; six great-grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his life, Tyler Schrauth, Troy Schrauth, Brant Reyes, Jeramy Burlison, Brice Burlison, and Jax Burlison; one sister, Dorothy (Charles) Wiltsie; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Christine Swick; a brother, Dennis Swick; and a daughter, Tammy (Steve) Schrauth.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave. in Batavia.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at the funeral home. The Rev. Ronald Weidler will officiate. Interment will follow in River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.
