Lucinda Muirhead Corron Obituary
Died: June 12, 2010; in Campton Township
CAMPTON TOWNSHIP – Lucinda Muirhead Corron, 101, of Campton Township, died Saturday, June 12, at her home.
She had been a resident of Campton Township for 64 years.
She was born June 4, 1909, in Plato Township, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Beith Muirhead.
Lucinda graduated from Plato Township High School in 1927 and also was a graduate of Wheaton College in 1931 and Northwestern University M.A. in 1938.
She taught English at Plato High School until her marriage to Robert Corron on June 14, 1946.
Her memberships include the Wasco Ladies Aid, St. Charles Women's Club, and she was a former member of the Plato Methodist Church. She also was a volunteer at the Elgin Mental Health Center.
She is survived by two sons, Robert (Jane) Corron of Campton Township and David Corron of Campton Township; one daughter, Sarah (Larry) Toms of Oregon, Ill.; and one granddaughter, Ashley Corron of Chicago.
Lucinda was preceded in death by her husband Robert; two sisters, Elizabeth Muirhead and Lillian Dahlstrom; and two brothers, Donald and John Muirhead.
Lucinda and her family appreciated the loving care given to her by Mary Niceley and Norene Milligan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles. Burial will be at Whitney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Wasco Ladies Aid or The American Cancer Society or The Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
