Marilyn E. "Goo Goo" Bauer, age 88, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, at her home in St. Charles. At her passing she was surrounded by beloved family in the home she had enjoyed for 29 years.

She was born December 3, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Iver Sr. and Gertrude (Bayliss) Schmidt. Marilyn was a faithful supporter of charities benefiting women, children, people with disabilities or illness, those in poverty, and animals. She raised her daughters as a working, single mother, devoting herself to their care and education. She is the beloved matriarch of the extended family.

Marilyn is survived by her three daughters, Marsha Flood of Naperville, IL, Jay Flood (Frederick) Kist of Inverness, IL, and Nina Vogele Aube of Overland Park, KS; her five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, as well as many other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, J.B. Flood, David Vogele, and Edwin Bauer; as well as her sister, Doris Brown; and brother, Iver Schmidt Jr.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the excellent care Marilyn received at Delnor Hospital and the caring, professional support Seasons Hospice provided to her and the daughters caring for her in her final days.
