DeKALB – Mary Eileen Alverson, 84, of the Chicago area died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Bethany Health Care and Rehab Center in DeKalb.
She was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Walter K. and Anne (Barrett) McDonald. She married Richard Edward Alverson on April 25, 1948.
Mary worked at Illinois Bell/AT&T in the operator services department for more than 20 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Tom) Zachwieja of St. Charles and Nadine (Marty) Portner of Dixon; two grandchildren, Lori (Chris) Young of Algonquin and Beth (Mark) Lucarelli of St. Charles; three great-grandchildren, Owen and Amelia Young and Olivia Lucarelli; one brother, Barrett McDonald of Springfield; one sister, Betty Ann (Jerry) Lickteig of Rockford; one sister-in-law, Rosemary McDonald of Riverside; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and one brother, Raymond.
Her visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore, with a Funeral Service starting at 4 p.m.
