Mary Phyllis Preston, 88, of St. Charles, passed away May 25, 2013, at Delnor Glen. She was born Sept. 1, 1924, in Grayville. She was united in marriage to Eldon Preston in 1947.
Mary Phyllis attended the University of Illinois and was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. She worked for many years in the accounting department at Montgomery Ward. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling with her husband. They moved to St. Charles in 2006 to be closer to their family.
Mary Phyllis was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. She always provided them with kindness, compassion and unconditional love.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Tom) Watrobka and Marilyn (Jules) Heinemann; her grandchildren, Megan Foreman, Jeff (Leslie) Watrobka, Mike (Meredith) Watrobka, Matt Heinemann and Drew Heinemann; and great-granddaughters, Lily Foreman and Liv and Ila Watrobka.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon, and her son, Joel.
The last months of her life were made richer by the care of her loving caregivers.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 31, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
