Mary R. Senneke Obituary
Mary Rena Senneke

Born: November 1, 1923

Died: December 28, 2017

Mary Rena Senneke (n e Bourgoine), age 94, was born in West Enfield, Maine on November 1, 1923 and passed away December 28, 2017 in Aurora, Illinois.

Her children were at her side at the time of her passing. Mary served in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Waves during World War II, and during her enlistment she met and married Dennis W. Senneke. After her naval career, she lived most of her life in Illinois.

In addition to being a homemaker, Mary worked for the Department of Motor Vehicles and the City of Aurora Election Commission. She was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and supported her family in all their academic, athletic, professional and social endeavors. Mary loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in her yard, going to the lake, and in her younger years played baseball, basketball, croquet, and volleyball. She enjoyed baking, dancing, and watching the Bears and her Cubs. She particularly enjoyed family gatherings and the lively poker games that often followed dinner, which she delighted in winning.

Mary is survived by her children, Dennis (Robbi) Senneke, David Senneke (Carol Plating), Deanna Bruso, Darrell Senneke, and Cindy Senneke (Heidi Spoor). She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. When asked, Mary said her children (and the Cubs winning the World Series) were the pride, joy, and highlights of her life.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Dennis W. Senneke (1925-2003); her parents, Paul Bourgoine and Melanie Bourgoine (nee Raymond); and her siblings, George, Davis (Dave), Percy, Neil, Bella, and Pauline (Polly). Mary looked forward to reuniting with her family and her beloved dog Sheba in heaven.

We all live in the hope of becoming a warm memory, and Mary left so many cherished memories for those that knew and loved her.
