NORTH AURORA – Russell Ernest Johnson, 90, of North Aurora, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at his home. He was born July 24, 1922, in Round Grove Township, the son of Ernest and Martha (nee Haskins) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Lois Weichsel on March 12, 1949, in Aurora.
After graduating from East Aurora High School in 1941, Russ served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II. Russ was employed as an auto mechanic for several auto/repair shops in the Fox Valley area. He decided to change careers and became a salesman in the automobile products industry for 15 years before his retirement. Russ was a member of the Batavia VFW Post 1197, a life member of Batavia Moose Lodge 682, Over 60 Club of North Aurora and a member of Union Congregational Church of North Aurora.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois; daughter, Karen Dee of Batavia; and grandson, Kyle Dee. He is also survived by his sister, Betty (Jack) Renford of Spokane, Wash.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Dean Johnson; and a brother, Don Johnson, who was MIA over the Himalayas during World War II.

The visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and a memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
