Born: January 26, 1927; in Harvard, IL

Died: October 12, 2017; in Cleveland, OH

Virginia L. Cole, 90, currently of Mentor, OH, and formerly of St. Charles, IL, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the David Simpson Hospice House, Cleveland, OH.

She was born January 26, 1927 in Harvard, IL to the late Carry E. and Mattie A. Crist.

A 1945 graduate of Dundee High School, Virginia was an avid traveler in her 20's until she met the love of her life on a blind date. She married Hugh Cole in 1953 and spent the next few decades raising her children and selflessly caring for her special needs son, Timothy. She held various volunteer positions for the Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Charles, IL. She was a very active, dedicated member of the Geneva Chapter #952, Order of the Eastern Star, Geneva, IL.

Virginia leaves behind a legacy of self-sacrifice for and devotion to her family. In addition, her keen sense of humor and many facets of creativity have greatly inspired all those who knew her.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hugh A. Cole; children, Wendy (Timothy) Herrick, Lucinda (David Lusk) Cole; grandchildren, Jennifer Moran, Amanda (Eric) O'Neill, Matthew (Heather) Moran, Angela (David) Nagy, Thomas Herrick, Sarah Lusk and Megan Lusk; great grandchildren, Braeden Saunders, Zachary O'Neill and Maya O'Neill; and many other loving family members.

Preceding her in death was her son, Timothy S. Cole; also siblings, Mary (Louis) Kochis, Clarence (Marie) Crist, Helen (Karl) Munck and Patty (Bruce) Tucker.

At this time, service to be local and private for family only.

The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Association for Individual Development (AID), 309 New Indian Trail Ct., Aurora, IL 60506 or to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110-2602 or donate online at hospicewr.org.
