William B. Johnson, 73, of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018. He was born February 4, 1945 in St. Charles, son of Lois and the late Carl Johnson.

He graduated from Kaneland High School in 1963. He received his B.S. at University of Illinois in 1967 and his M.S. in 1968. He was also a Bronze Tablet Recipient at University of Illinois.

Bill recently celebrated his 50th year as an Agriculture instructor at Joliet Junior College. He touched many lives throughout his career often spanning three generations of a single family. He was a fierce advocate for agricultural education. His loyalty and dedication to the JJC agriculture program and those in the agricultural community was unmatched. He was incredibly forward thinking about how to draw young people into Ag education. He was a leader, not only in the classroom, but in the community.

Along with his mother, Lois Johnson, Bill is survived by his brother, David C. (Linda) Johnson of Miamisburg, OH; niece, Kimberly A. (Chad) Walther of Kettering, OH; nephew, Dr. Michael D. (Barbara) Johnson of Centerville, OH; great-nieces, Meredith and Caroline Johnson; and great-nephew, Leo Johnson who all loved their Uncle Bill.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weitendorf Agricultural Education Center at Joliet Junior College, 17840 W. Laraway Road, Joliet, IL 60433.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a scholarship fund in Bill's name within the Joliet Junior College Foundation at http://www.jjc.edu.
