He was born October 31, 1924 in Aurora, IL,the son of John V. and Mary S. (Theisen) Schwickert. He worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the army in 1943. He proudly served his country until the end of World War II. In 1950 he met the love of his life at Longs Barn. At the Memorial Day parade in aurora in 1952 he proposed.
