William R. Fiedler

Born: March 22, 1929

Died: January 17, 2018

William Robert Fiedler "Bill" of Geneva, IL, joined God in heaven on January 17, 2018. He was born March 22, 1929 in LaGrange, IL. At the time of his death, he was a resident at GreenFields of Geneva, IL.

His parents were Albert and Lou Fiedler of LaGrange Park, IL and his two brothers, Albert (Al) and Robert (Bob) preceded Bill in death.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Dorothy (Dot). They were married on December 1, 1951. His three sons, Doug, (Lisa) David (Sharon) and Duncan, (Mary) and their extended families; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, now celebrate Bill's life.

Bill graduated from Michigan State College with a BS in Agriculture in June 1951. Bill served our nation as a Staff Sargeant in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He led a remarkable life in corporate business, working for companies such as Swift and Co., JB Roerig/Pfizer, Tewele Seeds, Sylvania, GTE and North American Phillips. He and his wife, Dot, and son Duncan also owned and operated Ye Old Provincial House on Third St. in Geneva, IL.

Bill was proud of his affiliation and support of many philanthropic organizations. He was an Eagle Scout and served the Boy Scouts of America as a Scoutmaster and Troop Committee Chair. He volunteered as a Master Gardner at Morton Arboretum and worked with the University of Illinois Extension Service on a community garden. For many years, he enjoyed the shooting sports as a member of the St. Charles Sportsmen's Club in Elburn.

Bill and Dot were active members at First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton, IL. Bill served as an Elder on Session for many years.

The family would like to thank the skilled nursing staff at GreenFields for the time and attention they gave Bill in his final years. It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a great husband and father but we know he is now at peace.

The family is planning a memorial service at GreenFields on a date to be determined. The interment will be at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Joliet, IL.
