ST. CHARLES – Wilson Lee Cross Jr., 55, of St. Charles, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at his home.
He was born Aug. 21, 1954, in Elgin.
In 1972, he graduated Geneva High School. In spring 1974, he tried out for the Detroit Tigers baseball team. He was employed by the Howell Company from 1972 to 1980 as a supervisor and union steward. During his employment at Howell Company, he attended University of Wisconsin-Madison took class in computer science. From 1980 to the present, he was employed by Fermilab in Batavia. He had a passion for sports, especially the White Sox, Bears, St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Blackhawks. He was an avid bowler and coached several different sports.
He also enjoyed traveling, entertaining, hunting, fishing and canoeing. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and grandfather.
Mr. Cross is survived by his wife, Pamela; three children, Noel Stewart, Tamara (David Velazquez) Stewart and Lance Cross; a grandson, Dalton Stewart; his mother, Verlia Drury; his father, Wilson Lee (Shirley) Cross Sr.; sister, Jan (George) Pedersen; two brothers, Terry and Lloyd Cross; his stepbrother, Steven Lawrence; his stepsister, Debbie Rippy; and several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Wilburn Lawrence; and a stepbrother, Mikey Lawrence.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main St., (corner of routes 64 and 25), St. Charles. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, St. Charles. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
