Robert Allen "Bob" Peterson Obituary
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas – Robert "Bob" Allen Peterson of South Padre Island, Texas, formerly of St. Charles, Ill., died July 7, 2013, at the age of 79. Bob was born Feb. 23, 1934, in St. Charles, Ill., and graduated from St. Charles High School (class of 1952). After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

After growing up and spending his entire working life in the Chicago area, he retired to South Padre Island, Texas, 14 years ago. Through the years he worked for St. Charles Kitchens, Leath Furniture, Johnson Products, and Pfund and Clint. While family members thought that he would never retire, he flourished living on "The Island." He loved the warm weather, beach, partying with the locals and the winter Texans, visiting Mexico, and volunteering at the birding center. He frequently traveled to visit family and friends and over the years he experienced all seven continents. His faithful pug friend, Marcus, was often his travel partner. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. All will remember him as an energetic, optimistic, kind and generous man who was accepting of others and a self-professed chocoholic.

He is survived by his siblings, Phylis (DeRaedt) and Richard; his three children, Blair, Douglas Peterson and Beth (Erickson); seven grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Arlene Peterson; and his brother, Donald Peterson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 19, at The Chapel by the Sea, 33425 State Park Road 100, South Padre Island, TX 78597. There will be a reception following at The Palms Resort, 3616 Gulf Blvd., South Padre Island.

Contributions may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network to support their fight against this deadly disease. Visit www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/BlairPeterson/KeeptheMemoryAlive.
