BATAVIA – William D. "Bill" Reese Sr., 81, a 50-year resident of Batavia, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in his home. He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in McKeerport, Pa., the son of Leo and Vera (nee Barkenmeyer) Reese. He was united in marriage to Ingrid Zajonc on Oct. 28, 1961, in Joliet.
Bill will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and friend to many. During Bill's early years, he served in the U.S. Navy. He completed his undergraduate college degree from University of Illinois. He later obtained his MBA from Aurora University. Bill was employed as a manufacturing sales representative at Heatec in the industrial heating industry for 25-plus years. While his family was young, Bill also volunteered as a fireman in Batavia. Bill had an energetic spirit who kept busy with hobbies, especially boating, spending time with family and friends, fixing and repairing things for anyone who asked; he was even actively working following his official retirement in December.
He is survived by his wife Ingrid, his children William (Sheryl) Reese of Campton Hills, Pam (James) Hanford and Brian Reese; four grandchildren, Samantha and David Reese and, Tristan and Jordan Hanford; his siblings, Lois Hengstler, Geraldine (Don) Henry, Richard Reese and Nancy (Pat) Pattison; and his many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 18, at Moss Family Funeral Home. Interment will follow at West Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.
